Phillies Sign Tim Redding To Minor-League Deal
The domino effect is continuing for the Phillies.
The team signed veteran right hander Tim Redding to a minor-league dead on Thursday after making a couple moves on the mound. They already activated Vance Worley and designated J.C. Romero for assignment. They also moved Justin De Fratus up to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
This could all be because Vance Worley might be making more than just a spot start on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners.
Redding, 33, didn’t pitch in the major leagues last season and last appeared for the Mets in 2009. He had a 3-6 record with a 5.10 ERA in 30 games.
In 14 career starts against the Phillies, Redding has a 5-4 record and an impressive 3.01 ERA.
He has been in the Triple-A system of the Los Angeles Dodgers this season with the Albuquerque Isotopes. He holds a 2-7 record with a 6.59 ERA in 13 starts.
