Sixers Whiz Past Washington
The Washington Wizards came to the Wells Fargo Center Friday night – a chance to see what life is like on the wrong side of the tracks. The Wizards are a dysfunctional mess, while the Sixers are a harmonious, high-functioning unit.
They cruised past the Wizards, 120-89, using what is becoming their tried-and-true formula of lockdown defense and balanced scoring.
The Sixers asserted themselves with a 22-4 spurt in the third quarter. They outscored Washington (1-10) in the third, 38-18. They led by as many as 34.
The Sixers (8-3) scored a whopping 32 fast break points.
All five Sixer starters scored in double figures, led By Jodie Meeks, who tied his career high with 26 points. Andre Iguodala had a terrific all-around game, finishing with 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Lou Williams added 19 off the bench.
The games was the first of a home-and-home series. The two teams play again Saturday night in Washington, D.C.
