Sixers Open Preseason Vs. Nets

For the Sixers, a much-needed fresh start is about to begin. It’s only the NBA preseason, but the Doug Collins era begins Tuesday night when the Sixers play the New Jersey Nets in Roanoke, Va., in the opener for both teams.

The Sixers have spent their week-long training camp at St. Joseph’s University working towards cleansing the bad feelings left behind by last season’s 27-55 stink bomb. Collins has infused an air of order and optimism into the troops; against the Nets everyone will begin to see how it translates on the court.

The Sixers are expected to start a lineup of Jrue Holiday and Andre Iguodala in the backcourt, Thaddeus Young and Elton Brand at forward and Spencer Hawes at center. First-round draft pick Evan Turner will come off the bench. Collins has told his players that no one will play more than 24 minutes.

Tip-off at Roanoke Civic Center is 7 p.m.
