Phillies Activate Joe Blanton

Most Phillies fans seem to have written off Joe Blanton this season, but Blanton will have a chance to contribute to the team down the stretch run of the season.

The right-hander has been activated from the 60-day disabled list.

Blanton had been on the DL since May 23 with right elbow inflammation, his second stint on the DL this season.  He made one rehab appearance with single-A Lakewood on September 2, pitching one scoreless inning without allowing a baserunner.

Blanton is 1-2 with a 5.50 ERA in six starts for the Phillies this season.

The Phillies also announced that Kyle Kendrick has been reinstated from the paternity leave list; he and his wife had their first child over the weekend.
