Phillies To Activate Shane Victorino, Option Orr
Help in the outfield is on the way for the Phillies. Shane Victorino will be activated on Tuesday, but after Monday night’s loss to the Cubs, Pete Orr was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to create a roster space.
Victorino hasn’t played since July 4 when he sprained a ligament in his right thumb.
He was 3-for-5 on Saturday with the Reading Phillies and on Sunday he was 1-for-3 with a walk, a single and a run scored. He also stole home plate.
Victorino leads the big club in batting average with a .303 clip. In 68 games this season, he has 34 RBI and nine home runs.
