Flyers-Predators: Inside The Numbers
It’s Scott Hartnell’s favorite road trip of the year. And for good reason — Nashville is where he started his career. Kimmo Timonen too. Hartnell will return to Music City on pace for a career year. The most goals he scored for the Predators was 25. He’s six away from that total only 42 games into the season.
Here are some other numbers of note about Hartnell’s old mates and his new ones.
2 In the last five meetings between the two clubs, the Flyers have lost to the Predators in a shootout twice.
8 The number of goals the Flyers scored against the Predators in their first meeting on Jan. 11, 1999. Two goals were from John LeClair, and one came from Daymond Langkow, Eric Lindros, Dan McGillis, Keith Jones, Colin Forbes and Alexandre Daigle.
8 New players on the Nashville roster since Feb. 3, 2011, the last meeting between the two clubs.
13 New players on the Flyers’ active roster since last year’s only meeting, which was a 3-2 Flyers victory.
4 In three games each against the only other NHL team they played for, Scott Hartnell and Kimmo Timonen have combined for four points. Timonen has had an assist in each of the times he’s faced Nashville.
+6 The last time Erik Gustafsson played for the Flyers, on Nov. 3, he was a career-best plus-6 and got his first and only NHL point on an assist. He is reportedly suiting up Saturday night for the first time since leaving the lineup with a left wrist injury.
10 Number of consecutive games started by Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne. The last time backup Anders Lindback got a start was Dec. 20, 2011.
4 Wins over the Eastern Conference in eight tries for the Predators this season. Nashville is 4-2-2 against the East and 4-1-1 on home ice.
4 This game will mark the fourth of a four-game road trip for the Flyers. They’ll play nine of their next 12 games at home.
1 Point that Claude Giroux needs to reach 200 for his career in the NHL and, of course, with the Flyers.
