Eagles Want McCoy To Win Rushing Title

NOVACARE COMPLEX — The Eagles are gunning to get LeSean McCoy the rushing title.

Marty Mornhinweg acknowledged on Thursday that the team has discussed taking a run at it so long as it’s “within the structure” of the offense.

“It’s on our minds,” said center Jason Kelce. “We’d have to have a really good day. The main focus is winning but it is on our minds. We want him to get as much recognition as he can get.”

With 1,309 rushing yards to date, McCoy is 128 behind league-leader Maurice Jones-Drew, who has 318 attempts compared to McCoy’s 273.

He would have to have a monster day. But with nothing to play for in terms of postseason positioning, it is one of the goals that the team has set for itself heading into the regular-season finale against the Redskins.

“It’s one of the things that we’re looking forward to,“ said Kelce. “Obviously we’re not looking forward to the playoffs anymore, so right now we’re just focused on winning the game and kind of helping guys like LeSean and some of the receivers get some recognition.”

McCoy did not practice Wednesday but did suit up Thursday. Mornhinweg sounded optimistic that his back would be on the field Sunday.
