McCoy Re-Hires Rosenhaus Again

McCoy Re-Hires Rosenhaus Again

LeSean McCoy has hired Drew Rosenhaus once again, a source with knowledge of the situation has confirmed. For those scoring at home, this is the third time the Eagles running back has hired the super agent.

McCoy first fired Rosenhaus in the beginning of October and then again about a month later. In October, McCoy re-hired Rosenhaus within 72 hours. This time around, he waited a little longer. Since it has been a period greater than five days since they parted, the two sides are beyond the rescind period and must draw up a new contract.

McCoy is in the third year of a four-year rookie deal that is scheduled to pay him around $500,000 this season and close to $600,000 in 2012.

Eager for a new deal, McCoy fired Rosenhaus for a second time and began interviewing potential replacements, including Joel Segal and Eugene Parker. One agent that attempted to sign McCoy told Philly Sports Daily last week that the running back appeared close to going with Segal, who also represents Michael Vick. Multiple sources, in fact, indicated that Vick has been pitching Segal to the 23-year-old McCoy. Ultimately, McCoy went back to Rosenhaus after some serious wooing by the high-profile agent.

It is believed that part of McCoy’s reasoning to move on from Rosenhaus was related to DeSean Jackson’s contract situation. Jackson, also represented by Rosenhaus, has been out for a new deal for some time but has yet to get it. McCoy has said publicly that there are several teammates, including Jackson, that he believes are ahead of him in line.

But with Jackson’s recent absence to meetings and subsequent benching coupled with his performance, that perception may have changed.

On Sunday McCoy scored a touchdown in his ninth consecutive game, setting a new Eagles record.
