Kolb Knocked Out Of Game With Concussion

A concussion ended Kevin Kolb’s first game as the Eagles’ starting quarterback after just a half.

Kolb was hit hard on a sack to end an Eagles drive late in the second quarter. Trainers looked at him on the sideline, performing tests that appeared to be indicative of a concussion. He saw some action on the final drive of the half, but he was note on the sideline to begin the second half.

Michael Vick took over at quarterback.

But the injury bug didn’t start or end there. Middle linebacker Stewart Bradley appeared dazed and confused after a collision with teammate Ernie Sims. He staggered to the ground and missed a few plays before returning briefly. But Bradley was not on the field for the final defensive series of the first half, replaced by Omar Gaither.

The team said Bradley had a concussion and would not return.

The most gruesome injury of the day came early in the second quarter when fullback Leonard Weaver’s left leg bent the wrong way as he was being tackled. He was down on the field for an extended period of time and had to be helped off the field while in tears. The Eagles called it a left knee sprain and said he would not return. There were reports that Weaver tore the ACL in that knee and would be out for the rest of the season.

Center Jamaal Jackson suffered a right elbow injury, and the Eagles also said he would not be back. Mike McGlynn replaced him at center.

The already-thin offensive line took another hit in the third quarter when left tackle Jason Peters went out with a right knee sprain. He returned soon after.
