Notes: Ingram Set To Undergo MRI On Knee
Cornelius Ingram was set to undergo an MRI on his surgically repaired left knee, the latest setback on a difficult road for the tight end over the last two seasons.
Ingram has been limited at times during training camp because of the knee and swelling in his calf that had migrated down from the issue spot. He was hobbled at practice Tuesday and missed practice altogether Wednesday afternoon.
“He just has some swelling there. It’s just precautionary measures,” said Andy Reid. “It’s bothering him, so we’re going to get it checked out.”
While Ingram has been very upbeat, it is clear that the toll of two ACL surgeries in as many years is still very much a factor. Clay Harbor is the No. 2 tight end behind Brent Celek right now, and Nate Lawrie was brought in during camp as another option.
Reid was asked if he feels comfortable with his set of tight ends, given where Ingram is healthwise right now.
“I would say that I wish Cornelius could be out there and doing his thing and his leg wasn’t bothering him,” said Reid. “I would tell you on the other hand that it’s given Harbor an opportunity to be out there and get a lot of reps and that that second tight end plays approximately 25 percent of the plays max in our offense. What he’s doing with the increased play time is he’s getting better. Every day he takes another step forward. He’s made some nice plays in practice. Now, we’ve got to get him the ball in the game and see how he does there.”
Herremans to start
Todd Herremans’ arrow continues to point upwards, with Andy Reid revealing Wednesday that the left guard will get the start against the Chiefs. Herremans and Jamaal Jackson both practiced again for the Eagles, who moved indoors at the NovaCare Complex to simulate crowd noise.
DeSean Jackson practiced Wednesday as well. Jackson looked a little gimpy Tuesday near the end of practice, and a team source said he was dealing with a sore hamstring. Jackson told reporters after Wednesday’s session that everything was fine.
Absent were center Nick Cole (knee) and defensive end Juqua Parker (ankle). Parker missed practice for the first time Tuesday as he suffered a sprained ankle.
David Akers also missed practice with a heel injury, but Reid indicated Akers should be fine for Friday’s game in Kansas City.
As for those on the field, Michael Vick threw an interception early – to Jamaal Jackson.
