Temple Beats Saint Louis For 1st Conference Win

Saint Louis gave Temple almost all they could handle. At times, it looked like it might be another conference loss for the Owls. Instead, they rode out the storm and survived a 72-67 victory over the Billikens.

The Owls trailed for much of the first half and eventually opened the second half with just a two-point lead. Though it was by no means pretty, Temple held on to that lead for the rest of the way.

The Billikens made several runs to come within one point of the Owls, but Temple answered with solid defense and a few baskets of its own.

In one of the Atlantic 10’s toughest venues, Chaifetz Arena, the Owls came seeking their first conference win of the season and got it.

Khalif Wyatt continued his scoring spree, leading the Owls with 22 points. Coming into Wednesday night, the junior guard had averaged 25 points in the Owls’ last two games.

Juan Fernandez scored just two points while dishing out four assists. Despite Fernandez’s quiet night, the Owls picked up the slack, going 30-for-53 from the floor as a team.

Senior Ramone Moore finished with 18 points and seven rebounds.
