Villanova Gets Back On Track With Win Over DePaul

Prior to hosting DePaul, the young Villanova Wildcats had dropped three straight games and were 0-3 in conference play. Desperate for something positive, they got it, beating up on the Blue Demons, 87-71.

Villanova never trailed. There were several instances where the Demons would close the deficit to single digits but the Wildcats kept them at arm’s length.  The ‘Cats led by as many as 17 points.

The Wildcats got rich at the foul line, making 27-of-34 free-throws.

Maalik Wayns led Villanova with 21 points and eight rebounds. Dominic Cheek scored 20 points. Mouphtaou Yarou added 14 points and seven rebounds.

DePaul’s Brandon Young scored 22 points.
