Report: Penn State Hires Bill O’Brien
The search is over. According to ESPN, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien will be the next head coach at Penn State.
The Nittany Lions are clearing house after the Jerry Sandusky scandal rocked the campus.
The 42-year-old is the offensive coordinator of the Patriots and has coaching experience in the collegiate ranks since 1993. Perhaps most importantly, no obvious ties to Penn State. The Dorchester, Mass. native is a graduate of Brown University and coached there, at Georgia Tech, Maryland and Duke before being hired by the Patriots in 2007 as an offensive assistant.
