Saint Joseph’s Comes Back To Beat Duquesne
They say the Hawk will never die. Duquesne had its foot on the throat of the Hawk, but didn’t press hard enough. Despite being down 16 points to the Duquesne Dukes, the Hawks came all the way back to win by a C.J. Aiken layup in overtime, 84-82.
Langston Galloway led the Hawks to a 9-0 run in the second half that started the process of erasing the Dukes’ lead and got the Hawks to overtime. Galloway had 19 points and six assists. Aiken had 15 points and continued his unbelievable season inside the defensive paint. He had another nine blocks and now leads the nation with 68. He overtook Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis who has 67.
The Dukes were led by sophomore guard T.J. McConnell who had a game-high 28 points and five assists. Duquesne shot well from beyond the arc, going 11-for-18 on the night. However, once Saint Joseph’s began its comeback, Duquesne started to foul and the Hawks made the Dukes pay at the free-throw line.
In overtime, Ronald Roberts Jr. had four of his 13 points to set Saint Joseph’s up for the win before the layup by Aiken sealed the deal.
