La Salle Opens A-10 Play With Win Over Xavier
TOM GOLA ARENA — The La Salle Explorers have arrived. If you don’t believe it, maybe a win over the Xavier Musketeers will change your mind. The Explorers beat the Musketeers 80-70, extending their home win streak to 10 games dating back to last February.
Earl Pettis led all scorers with 23 points, adding a pair of 3-pointers. La Salle continues to live by the 3-ball; they made 26 attempts to to Xavier’s 14. Xavier turned the ball over in the first half nine times and had 14 in the game. Tu Holloway shot only 17 percent from the field and was held to 15 points.
This is the first win for La Salle over Xavier since 2005 and was their first against an Atlantic 10 opponent.
