Drexel Destroys Struggling Towson
The preseason favorites to take the CAA title, Drexel Dragons, finally earned their first conference win. The Dragons were handed a layup in the form of the previously 0-14 Towson Tigers. Instead of a layup, they slammed it home with a dunk, destroying the Tigers 60-27.
The visiting Tigers had no answer for the Dragons’ offense. Drexel began the first half on an 11-0 run and the second half with a 17-0 run. Towson made only 22 percent of its shots for a season-low, 27 points.
After a dismal four-point outing from Samme Givens on Monday, the senior scored 18 points and collected seven rebounds.
Damion Lee added 12 points.
The Dragons made sure to protect the ball after turning it over 25 times against Georgia State. This time, Drexel committed 13 turnovers against Towson, matching the season average.
On Sunday, Drexel (9-5) will host CAA-leading Virginia Commonwealth (11-3). Now that they got their first conference win in three tries, the conference leaders will have a crack at the Dragons.
