La Salle Puts Away Boston University

When the La Salle Explorers open A-10 play in January, they won’t have many layups. So when Boston University visited Tom Gola Arena, they made sure to cash in with a 70-53 victory, their fifth consecutive home win.

Tyreek Duren led the charge and had La Salle pulling away fast. The explorers used a 10-0 run early in the first half to put some distance between themselves and the Terriers.

Boston University gave the ball over 11 times, which helped La Salle to a lead that, at one point, reached 25 points.

Freshman Malik Thomas was one of the lone highlights for Boston University, scoring 17 points off the bench and adding eight rebounds.

Duren led all scorers with 23 points, nearly doubling his average of 12.1 points per game in La Salle’s previous 12 games. On Jan. 4, the Xavier Musketeers (8-3) will open A-10 play for the Explorers and layups like these will stop, but for now, La Salle will enjoy a 9-4 record.
