Martelli Breaks Record In Win Over Morgan State
Morgan State didn’t have a chance. They didn’t just lose to the Saint Joseph’s Hawks by 31 points, but they served as victim to Phil Martelli’s new record. He becomes the school’s all-time leader in coaching victories with 310 after a 81-50 win. Martelli passes Bill Ferguson who previously held the title of most wins by a coach at St. Joe’s.
Carl Jones led all scorers with 16 points leading the Hawks to their fifth win in a row. The Hawks have won seven out of their last eight games, with the only loss coming to American University.
Morgan State could not connect from beyond the arc as they shot 17 percent, compared to St. Joes’ who shot 53 percent. The Bears only had 2 players score in double figures compared to St. Joes’ that had 4 players in double figures with Langston Galloway scoring 14 points.
