Hawks’ Win Streak Hits Four After Beating Coppin State
Last week, Phil Martelli said that a win against Villanova would not mean anything for his Saint Joseph’s Hawks if they did not finish against Coppin State. Martelli can now rest easy; the Hawks beat Coppin State 81-72 and improved their winning steak to four games.
After having a monstrous game last week versus Villanova, C.J Aiken continued his impressive season leading the Hawks with 20 points and six rebounds. He also kept the block party going with a pair of blocked shots. He wasn’t the lead in that category though. Halil Kanacevic had four for the Hawks. Langston Galloway was the second leading scorer throwing up 16 points, while shooting 57 percent from three-point range.
Leading scorers for Coppin State were Tony Gallo and Akeem Eillis, who combined for 41 of Coppin’s 72 points.
Three days after Christmas, the Hawks will welcome Morgan State to Hagan Arena as Saint Joseph’s concludes its five-game homestand.
