Villanova Upsets UMass
It has been a long frustrating season for the young Villanova Wildcats, but as they come down the homestretch of the season they are providing hope for next season. Saturday, ‘Nova went on the road and resoundingly beat UMass, 35-17.
The win snapped a five-game losing streak.
The Wildcats (2-8, 1-6) forced six Minutemen turnovers. Jimmy Pitts had three interceptions, including two picks to help fuel a 28-point second quarter explosion for the Wildcats.
Villanova quarterback Chris Polony was 20-for-31 passing for 183 yards and three touchdowns. Jamal Abdur Rahman accounted for 124 yards from scrimmage – 62 rushing and 62 receiving. Austin Medley scored three touchdowns for the Wildcats.
Julian Talley had 11 receptions for 155 yards a touchdown for the Minutemen (5-4, 3-3)
Villanova has next Saturday off before ending its season the following weekend against Delaware.
