Pierce To Be Game-Time Decision Vs. Army

It’s no secret that Bernard Pierce is the engine that makes the Temple Owls go. When he’s running, Temple often cruises. But for the better part of his career, the Heisman-hyped back has needed a lot of trips to the mechanic.

The injury-prone Pierce was injured again in the third quarter of Temple’s 22-13 loss to Penn State. He appeared to hurt his right leg, and Owls coach Al Golden said he’s expected to be a “game-time deal” Saturday when Temple visits Army.

Golden told reporters Tuesday that Pierce has a high-ankle sprain. The running back was back at practice Tuesday morning.

“We remain hopeful that he’ll be ready  [for Army],” Golden said.

Without Pierce, Matt Brown would be shouldered with a bigger load of the carries.
